Make-up and Wigs, Dolby Theater, Cirque du Soleil’s IRIS             

• Manage the Wig and Make-up Department (comprised of six personnel), and the departmental budget ($147K per year) and capital expense projections ($5K per year) with the Technical Director. Supervise 75 artists and all of their make-up products, designs, and hair and wig needs. 

• Identify and work closely with six major cosmetic vendors. 

• Complete staff performance reviews, assist with hiring new employees. Develop regular and long-term inspection and preventive maintenance schedules and procedures. 

• Establish and maintain departmental training and backup plans to ensure continuity in performance operations.

• Maintain and update the wig and make-up installation specifications and drawings, inventory of all production wig and make-up elements and supplies, and all pertinent inspection and maintenance records. 

HAIR AND MAKEUP DEPARTMENT HEAD

Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum       

• Supervised pre-production and production of all shows 

• Organized departmental operations, hired crew, and managed all aspects of a show during production, including hair and makeup application and administrative responsibilities

• Interfaced with designers to execute designs for shows. Show turned over every eight to 10 weeks annually

• Supervision and Personal artist to: Martin Sheen, Frances Conroy, Brian Geraghty, Katey Sagal, Laurence Fishburne, Annette Bening, Chris Pine, Julia Stiles, Keith Carradine, TR Knight, Brian Bedford, Raul Esparza,  Rita Wilson and many others

ASSOCIATE WIGMASTER

Los Angeles Opera                 

• Assisted wigmaster with supervising the Wig and Make-up Department and scheduling of all employees 

• Executed wig making; hairdressing; special effects; make-up; and other department tasks including payroll

• Supervised and delegated the artistic aspects of the mounting, preparation, running, maintenance in production 

• Assisted with scheduling Wig Department employees

• Reviewed skill levels and operational strengths of department employees; led the training and development 

RESIDENT MAKEUP ARTIST / CREW FOREMAN

Los Angeles Opera        

• Assisted the wigmaster and associate wigmaster with operational and administrative duties 

• Supervised the per-service crew for all dress rehearsals and performances. 

• Completed weekly payroll; relayed show running information; assigned tasks and specialty hair or make-up projects; oversaw the proper application, removal, and blocking of wigs and facial hair. 

• Met regularly with the wigmaster and the associate wigmaster to review productions and to discuss operational and/or organizational issues

• Worked collaboratively with the associate wigmaster to organize tasks, space, equipment, hairgoods, and supplies as required by each production

• As delegated, performed such tasks as wig making, hairdressing, special effects, and make-up. Worked with the head of wardrobe, lead stylist, and/or principals as designated.
